Background
The BMW G8X M2/M3/M4 models from 2021 are equipped with an S58 engine that has a Y-shaped plastic pressure pipe. This Y-pipe connects both turbos to the throttle body, the charge pressure is led from both turbos into the throttle body. However, under high pressure and temperature conditions, especially in tuned cars, the original pressure pipe has a hard time handling the increasing temperatures and pressure. This can lead to the risk of cracking and potential engine damage. This is a problem for owners who want to improve their performance without compromising reliability.
Our Solution
To address this issue, do88 has developed a pressure pipe system specifically for the 2021+ BMW G8X M2/M3/M4 models. Our pressure tube system is 15% less restrictive than original, significantly improving flow and trim potential. Our cast Y-tube replaces the fragile plastic tube with a robust cast aluminum Y-tube which greatly increases durability and prevents costly breakdowns. Our design has optimized transitions between all pipe connections and hoses to minimize restrictions and improve airflow. We use CNC machined turbo and throttle body adapters to ensure leak-proof operation, and a larger throttle body adapter to match the inside diameter of the throttle. To further improve the functionality, our pressure pipe is supplied with two 1/8 NPT sockets for e.g. methanol injection or pressure sensors, plugs are included for those who choose not to use these sockets. Our testing shows that our pressure tube achieves a flow of 960 CFM @ 150mbar (2.17psi), which is a significant improvement over the OEM's 835 CFM, ensuring both improved durability and performance.
Mounting
Our pressure pipe system for 2021+ BMW G8X M2/M3/M4 is designed to easily replace the original. The system comes with all the necessary silicone hoses, mandrel bent pressure pipe from the rear turbo and the cast aluminum Y pipe, to replace everything in the original system. This design not only increases durability to heat and pressure, but it also fits seamlessly into the engine compartment. Assembly instructions are provided to guide you through the assembly process.
